Our Background

Danceteam International is an international dance network that offers dancing as an afternoon activity in schools with an emphasis on the Street Dance and Latin styles preferred by pupils aged 5-16. Our curriculum has been developed with the International Schools in Finland and the Finnish Ministry of Education with an emphasis on teaching in a school environment. Our core emphasis is on organising dance classes as an inclusive, confidence building team sport, providing pupils with regular opportunities to express themselves on stage, either within the school or in our regular events on some of the biggest stages in a region. Classes are set up as an afternoon activity or integrated into the school curriculum.

Instructors

All of our instructors are carefully selected for fit into a school environment and all are trained in the latest in safeguarding and have extended police checks as required in most EU countries as a prerequisite for working with children. The majority of our instructors also holds first aid certificates.

We have spent 15 years optimising our process in how we work with schools to minimise hassle and to fit into the school's daily schedule as seamlessly as possible. From classes before the school day to afternoon activity classes and salsa for your teachers, we have it covered. The below summarises how we work together and how we set up cooperation with a school in practical terms.

Guiding principles of cooperation

Our instructors are trained to be teachers who understand the requirements of a school environment. They will slot seamlessly into your every-day from understanding supervision and pickup-instructions for your youngest pupils to motivating your teenagers into a meaningful hobby. Inclusiveness, empowering individuals through a focus on the group dynamic and shared achievement are at the heart of how we teach.

Our teaching methodology

We have spent two decades with professional coaches of team sports, top pedagogues and PE teachers to build a teaching methodology that guarantees a safe, enjoyable and focused environment for learning dance. Our methodology centres on fostering a team dynamic to make learning as well as affirming what has been learnt easy and rewarding for our pupils. In addition to building a strong dance foundation our instructors focus on building a team identity and keeping pupils engaged by providing early wins in terms of new skills.
